"Listen to anyone with an original idea, no matter how absurd it may sound at first. If you put fences around people, you get sheep. Give people the room they need." - William McKnight, 3M President
There are few things in life that give me more joy than seeing the unbridled creativity and imagination of students who have been set free to create.
Boys and girls are so often told to sit still and not make a mess, and yes, those are valid directives in many circumstances. But in Art class, we get to explore our wild and messy sides! We get to produce, to build, to explore, and take risks. Our newest brainstorm is one that has everyone on the edge of their seats with excitement.
We want to create wearable art! My middle school Art students have already started designing t-shirts for the many different extracurricular clubs and teams at our school. But now we're ready to take those designs to the next level and actually print the designs on t-shirts that can be worn at school. This proposal is requesting 5 Speedball Deluxe Screen Printing Kits. Each kit has all of the necessary supplies for a student to print wearable art.
Please help reinforce the idea that Art is important, that it matters.
Art should never be seen as an "add on" or an "if there's extra time" pursuit. My students have real talent, and this print making venture is such a new and exciting idea for them. Please help us make it into a reality!
