My students need to see the movie "Wonder". Our fourth graders have been reading the book and they just love it. They would be so thrilled to be able to go see the movie too!

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Give this project a boost!
A chain reaction of support starts with one share.
My students live in an urban area surrounded by cement, cars, and old buildings. They come from low-income families and many don't travel out of our mid-sized city. My students are Hispanic and African-American.
Most of their parents did not attend college or even complete high school, but they want the best for their children.
They are just trying to get by, supporting their kids in the ways they know how. They count on the school to educate their children and provide them with experiences that will help them do better in life.
My Project
Our three classes of fourth graders have been reading the book, "Wonder" and we all absolutely love it. We would be so thrilled to see the movie on the big screen.
This story is about a boy with physical disabilities who is entering school for the first time in 5th grade.
It is told from different perspectives as the story progresses. The book travels through the school year for the boy, named August.
There are lots of feelings and discussions related to this book. The author does a spectacular job of relating to young people and the issues they face in school relating to peers.
We have scheduled the trip as a celebration during the week right before winter break. This will be a wonderful way for our fourth graders to come together for an enjoyable experience.
