This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

We want to explore using hands-on materials!!!!! There’s no end to the fun kids can have with a sand and water table!

Our class is very active.

We love to explore. We are a title one school and don't always have the funds to purchase the things we would love to have in our class. We are very hands-on and love to touch things. The need for the sand and water table will let us do more with the use of our five senses.

My Project

We like to incorporate all subjects into the sand and water table. We can make it fishing for letters/numbers activity. Exploring new materials such as sand, fake snow, beans, and rice. Watching ice melt and/or building with ice. These open ended and very important pieces of preschool equipment are considered absolutely necessary to cognitive development and the natural materials of sand and water have been used for about 100 years in classrooms, and longer in terms of outdoor play.

Sand and water give teachers a chance to ask open ended questions that make children really think about these materials.

For example, adults make comments that get children to observe, compare, estimate, measure, weigh, count and experiment...all of these are important cognitive skills.
