My Students

Using a child's work as a model for the classroom or showing a primary document, map or photograph enlarged for the whole class to see are two ways we will use our document camera to better serve our students.

Our students are a mix of general education and special education students.

They are active learners eager to expand their knowledge. Having access to technology will enable us to make our daily lessons more exciting and interactive. Using this kind of technology is also a way to support our struggling students through visual cues and active modeling.

My Project

Having a document camera will enable us to work on students individual writing pieces and model the grammar and spelling work in real-life ways. Using the students own work makes boring kill and drill unnecessary. They are inspired to use what they learn as they begin to understand the value of the work in relation to their own creativity. We can use the document camera to model math with manipulative in ways that are impossible in a whole group lesson otherwise. This addition to our classroom will make our days filled with kind of exciting and inspiring learning that we always strive for but is sometimes out of our reach.

Our school is a Title 1, high-poverty school.

Our students are diverse in every way. We are hoping to send them off to middle school next year with a solid foundation in technology, as well as with solid skills in all academic areas. These are kids that come to school each day excited to learn. Having a document camera in the classroom will bring their work to life in ways that will inspire them to do more.
