Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

By the end of the school year I expect my students to be above and beyond 6th grade math. One of my biggest challenges to get them there is the simple fact that we need more technology in the classroom. This includes laptops and desktops so the students can learn how to use technology to learn math

My students come from a middle-lower class section of the Bronx.

About half the students here do not have access to a computer at home. They are loving children who do not see their parents often because many of these parents are working 2 jobs. The school I work in is very welcoming and we try to make the students feel very comfortable.

My Project

My vision is to eventually have enough laptops for my class. The reason is because I feel that technology is very important and if we can teach students how to use a computer to learn and play games that will help them learn, then they will eventually use these math games online on their own.

My students need laptops to work on math enrichment websites when they are done completing all their class work.

My project will make a difference because if the students see how we are trying to get more technology in the school they will feel like people care about them. Students need to be able to use computers for many things and having one in the classroom for students to share and play math games and learn math will give students confidence and their grades will improve.
