This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Our school has a diverse student population with many fourth graders who are returning to in person learning in a classroom after learning remotely since March 2020. There are several languages spoken among our students and families. In addition to the language learners, my classroom includes students who have various learning differences which require individualized instruction.
Our fourth graders perform best when they are happy, enjoy school and have a chance to do something they love.
My teaching philosophy is to maintain a friendly, supportive classroom so school is a joyful place for everyone to learn.
My Project
Our 4th graders have been devouring books and ask everyday if we have more books they can read. We need more books in our library, especially graphic novels. Graphic novels are high-interest and engage our readers.
Help us create tomorrow's leaders by giving our 4th graders more books to read.
We have a special group of children who genuinely love to read. They are recommending books to one another and each day the student-led book clubs are buzzing with excitement. We want to keep their enthusiasm for reading strong and need more graphic novels to do that. One of our units of study is graphic novel book clubs. Students will be writing their own stories using graphics. Help us to inspire our budding authors with these award winning books.
