My Students

I teach a wonderful group of first graders at a school in Southern California where 40% of the students qualify for free or reduced-price lunch, and 100% of the students receive free breakfast daily.

Our school loves to integrate the arts and technology into our academics because we know that many students get inspired and thrive in an atmosphere where they can explore and have fun too.

We are a school full of many cultures, and many students speak another language other than English at home.

My Project

The students in my class have access to interactive iPad manipulative games and have learned to use these materials and other apps to increase their knowledge of all curricular areas. They are excellent at initiating their own learning independently and with gentle guidance. With the iPads from this project, my class will have the capacity to have its own iPad center for independent learning.

I also intend to use these iPads to increase students awareness, enjoyment, and engagement in the arts - including visual, music, and digital arts.

Additionally, the students will use these iPads to do independent and/or collaborative research on topics in science and social studies.
