Even with as many transitions we have daily, my students still need to get up and shake the wiggles out in order to keep them focused, on task, and actively learning.
"Every student can learn, just not on the same day or in the same way." -George Evans
I teach kindergarten at a suburban public school with a majority of students that are underprivileged.
Most of my students have little to no preschool background and require a lot of catching up in the beginning of the year. The abilities of my students range from low to high in both academics and behavior. My school strives to provide the best and meet every student's individual needs. We pride ourselves on professional development opportunities to continue to grow in order to help our students every way that we can.
My Project
My students would be able to use these stools to allow for movement while working. Students would be able to get their movement needed to keep them focused, active in their learning, and on task. These stools would provide a way for students who need help with maintaining attention as well as keep students from getting up and walking around the room. My students would be able to move these from their work tables to the carpet to allow for continued attention assistance.
A majority of my kindergarteners did not attend preschool and therefore lack social, academic, and appropriate behaviors for school.
These stools would allow for my students who need assistance with maintaining attention and remaining on task. The students will be able to be more successful both academically and behaviorally by having these stools as a tool to help them complete work as well as for their needed movement. These students would be able to move freely at their seat while working.
