My Project

Wire is something we always use on the farm. We use it for fencing, for sifters, for chick brooders, you name it, we probably have made it at one time or another. This year we will be redoing our mamaki garden by adding raised beds and a strong fence around it with a gate. The mamaki, which is a plant used to make tea here in Hawaii, was not doing well planted in the ground, so we will be using the raised beds to be able to feed them better and get them growing healthier and stronger. The wire fence we put around it will be to keep out the chickens and sheep that may break in to the garden.

We do a lot of projects in this class, and having the fence and hardware cloth makes it easier to just "do" the project instead of "plan" the project.

My students are learning to problem solve and plan out the supplies and equipment they need for each project before we start. I am hoping doing our lessons this way prepares them better for their future jobs and even future projects they may do at home. It's always fun to see the "before" and "after" pics from each of the projects. These supplies will make the "after" pics look awesome!
