My Students

You would think that having the use of computers would be enough. It is great, and my fifth and sixth grade students love using technology. However, without toner for our classroom printer, my students are not able to publish their essays and projects.

I teach fifth and sixth grade at a Southern California school where over 40% of the students receive free or reduced-price lunch.

Our school is a wonderful blend of cultures, and many students speak another language other than English at home. My students are fantastic, and we have many projects that my students will be using computers and our printer. My problem is that each year my classroom printer runs out of ink months before the school year ends. No only do we need ink toner for essays that my students are working on, but my students need toner so they can print out the projects they are working on.

My Project

I have requested toner for our laser printer. A student project is not complete if the essay is kept inside a computer, unable to be printed out. With toner, my students will be able to print out their essays, edit and revise them, and print a final draft that they can share with classmates and their family. Our school gives us one toner cartridge per year, but that just isn't enough toner to get us through all the essays and projects we work on.

My students can also print whatever they need to create great projects to be presented to the class and family.
