Every week I have the pleasure of working with some awesome students in a rural community.
The school consists of approximately 100 students total and I am lucky enough to get to work with a select group. My students all have difficulty with fine motor control which makes handwriting difficult for them. Good fine motor skills are essential in this day and age. Each one of my students put in the necessary work daily to improve their skills that are needed to be successful.
My Project
My students would benefit greatly by adding an iPad to our tool bag. With an iPad, my students would be able to work on their fine motor skills, learn typing and fine tune their visual motor skills by “playing” fun games. This added technology would not only make learning fun but it would also engage their sensory system and help their bodies retain information and learn new skills easier. Not all of my students have the ability to use a pencil and paper for communication so having an iPad would be a wonderful way to increase their independence in the school system.
