My Students

My students need some essential supplies for individual and group assignments. These supplies will help keep an organized classroom on a daily basis. This will help create a more engaging learning environment for the students.

I work at a Title I school in New York, where majority of the students come from low income families.

My students work hard in class they are always focusing on achievement and college readiness. My students are incredible and could really benefit from a little bit more funding.

My students come from diverse backgrounds, cultures, and personalities, my classroom is a unique family of its own. It is a classroom full of dedicated learners who are eager to learn. These students are full of amazing thoughts and ideas that deserve to be heard. However, now that we have departmentalized the 5th grade I have even more students (64 students) to accommodate.

This is a community that has been highly impacted by poverty.

The lack of essential materials is a road block to these students' success. It is our job to do more, and I want to provide these students with engaging tools and classroom materials that allows them to dive into their learning.

My Project

The materials I have selected for our classroom project focus on classroom organization, decoration and simple material to help student engagement. We need supply caddies, storage bins, markers, pencils for each group in the class. I believe that a decorative and organized environment will help supports a healthy and successful place for students to learn.

I am a firm believer that the classroom environment is an essential step in the road to productive learning.

All these materials will help keep our classroom organized for both of my classes on a daily basis. The carpet will be used for meeting materials and small group/one to one/whole group discussions. It will help writing celebrations and sharing time. The supply caddies will be used to organize materials on small group desks. This will provide supplies for my students for them to all have equal access to materials. The writing utilizes will go in the caddies to highlight key words, create individual/group projects, and covers for writing pieces. The bulletin board paper will decorate the classroom bulletin boards. The library pockets to keep our library organized when students want to borrow books. The mailbox will be a quick way to hand out papers, notes and return tests to both classes as they leave the classroom. Lastly, a portable work station will help students in smaller groups to gather around a table to discuss or work in class assignments.

I will have a very visual classroom which I am confident will lead to a more engaging learning environment for each and every student throughout the school year and years to come.
