My Students

I have a wonderful class of second graders in Oregon! They are sweet, caring, and full of life! They love learning and truly enjoy taking in new information. I teach in a high-poverty area, where 75% of our students receive free or reduced-price lunch.

We are a community in our classroom, working together and supporting each other every day.

My students come from a variety of different economic and cultural backgrounds. My students speak many different languages, have various interests, and have diverse learning styles.

My Project

After the last year and a half, I am so excited to have my students back in the classroom. I've missed being able to use the Scholastic News magazine with my small reading groups. I am requesting a class subscription to Scholastic News magazine for the 2021-22 school year. Every year, my students are really into nonfiction text and I would love to be able to provide them with text that is meaningful and relevant to the real world.

My students love reading text that is engaging and interesting!

Scholastic News magazine would provide us with real world text that is at an appropriate level for my second graders. We love reading and I am always looking for new types of text to incorporate into our classroom. Having these Scholastic News magazines will allow my students to be exposed to another type of text that they might not otherwise be exposed to this year.
