Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

The student population at my school is 95% Hispanic, 3% African American, 1% Caucasian, and 1% Asian. Over 80% of the students in my room are learning English as a Second Language. I see about a thousand students every week, from Kindergarten to grade five.

My school is located in one of the poorest areas of the state.

Our families are plagued by poverty and high unemployment rates. All of the students receive free or reduced rate lunch, and some of them even go home without food on the weekends.

My Project

Today I am requesting drawing paper for the students in the art room. We are in need of lots of paper to aid in our students' exploration in creativity. I currently have about 971 students; we need a lot of paper every day! An average class has about 50 students, so a pack of 50 sheets of paper is gone in a flash! We draw everyday in Art. Paper is like gold in our room. Without it, we would not be able to create amazing artwork. In a time of budget cuts, the arts are the last priority for funding.

This paper will help my students grow not only in art class but also increase their creative skills.

Creativity is one of the highest forms of thinking, and yet it seems to be disappearing from our schools. Please donate whatever you can for these deserving students, and help them have an enjoyable art experience.
