My Students

My students are a highly-motivated group of individuals in a challenging, college preparatory program within a high-poverty, urban, comprehensive high school. Most, though not all, of them are either first-generation Americans or immigrants to our country.

We are a bright spot in a troubled district!

My students inspire me to continue to do what I do - which is of course fulfilling - and they motivate me every day. Your generous support of our project will show my students that there are people out there in the world who care about them, too!

My Project

The class for which I am requesting these books is a little different than most normal English classes. We are part of the International Baccalaureate program, and as such, we follow a different syllabus. Part of our syllabus requires us to read works that were originally written in a language different than the one we speak (English). So far, I have selected Camus' "The Stranger" (French) and Garcia-Marquez's "Chronicle of a Death Foretold" (Spanish). But we are required to read three novels - that's where you come in!

Please help us to round out our syllabus by funding our project for copies of Yevegeny Zamyatin's "We".

This novel, originally written in Russian, will fit very nicely with our other two choices. Without a third novel, our syllabus will be incomplete!
