My Project

My students attend a Title I school in Brooklyn, New York. They are a very diverse group of children from many cultures. Our students are living in high poverty and some come from low socioeconomic backgrounds.

Our students are eager, enthusiastic and ready to work every morning.

They look forward to Opening Exercises as it gets them ready to start the day. Along with the pledge, announcements, the fact of the day and the joke of the day, we play, "Believe" by, Yolanda Adams every morning. It gets our students motivated to learn! They've even incorporated dance steps to each verse of the song.

Unfortunately, our CD player has stopped working and our students feel like they're now missing an important piece of the morning routine. They've even asked me, when is the song coming back?

Knowing that they look forward to Opening Exercises every morning makes me know they love coming to school.
