This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My kiddos are exceptional students who are curious about the world around them. My students love to change up the pace during the day and they enjoy getting really creative with new things. Many of my students face challenges in their personal lives but still come to school daily ready to learn and do their very best.

Being 5 years old and starting school comes with many challenges, especially during this uncertain time.

For a kindergartener, this is already a very scary time and on top of everything else going on in the world right now, it is so important I can provide my students with the resources and tools they will need to thrive as new learners.

I have been a teacher for 7 years now and have loved every second of it. Unfortunately, many of the things I use have been bought out of my own pocket or donated to me from previous educators. DonorsChoose has helped me receive more of what I need without having to spend my own money on these projects for my kiddos.

My Project

Now that we are halfway through the school year, I find myself needing more resources for the students. All of the items that have been previously purchased have been put to good use, almost too good of use.

We need more crayons, constuction paper, and dry erase markers!

The kids have been working so hard that their crayons are getting shorter, the dry erase markers dryer, and the construction papers has seemed to disappear. We also have been using headphones like crazy.

Unfortunately, being the age of 5 also comes with the territory of breaking or misplacing things. My students continue to make mistakes and learn from them. Items often break or go missing and I use that as a teachable moment of responsibility and respect. However, I stilldo not want them to be without the proper resources to be successful.

Please help me build up my inventory of some commonly used items so that we can finish the second half of the year strong!
