My Students

We are an integrated co-teaching classroom in the Bronx with 26 kindergarten students, each with unique strengths and challenges.

The 26 sprouts in our classroom have begun to blossom!

You can see and hear these great minds blooming as they begin to realize those squiggles on the page are words and that they can read them!

In our classroom, we strive to create a caring and safe learning environment where all students feel confident to take risks and grow as learners. We meet the needs of our diverse population by emphasizing compassion and respect for all.

My Project

My students love to act out emergent reader stories such as The Three Little Pigs and The Billy Goats Gruff. We would like to add these puppets to our drama center so that they continue the fun and continue the learning.

Dramatizing stories using puppets in the drama center encourages students to develop their oral language skills and vocabulary.

Our students often come to school with below grade level oral language skills and we try to use every opportunity to encourage them to speak with each other. The drama center also encourages students to develop a sense of story and encourages social skills.
