My Students

I like to refer to my students as "my kids" because that is how I think of them. They are with me from 8:00-2:15, but they stay with me much longer. I often find myself thinking after school or on weekends, "Oh, he would really love that book, or she needs to visit this website on fixing electronics." I want to provide them with the best possible education and I don't want a lack of resources to hinder that possibility for them.

My school is located in South Los Angeles where 100% of the students receive free lunch.

Most of my students speak English as a second language but are now in a mainstream English classroom. They come from a variety of homes and economic backgrounds. I have some parents that are teachers, some that are construction workers, and some that work more than one job to make ends meet. What they all have in common is a desire to give their child the best education possible.

My Project

The markers are for creating visually appealing presentations. My students work in small groups quite often in all subject areas. They are often asked to create a visual representation of their learning. The students are much more engaged when they have cool materials to use. These markers are the best on chart paper and have awesome colors.

There are so many great resources online to enrich curriculum right now.

Online resources are usually more current, and more engaging than those offered in a textbook. Often these resources are developed and tested by teachers themselves, so they work! In order to utilize these resources, I need paper to print and make copies for my students.
