My students need new, high-interest books to grab our younger readers' attention, including series like Bad Kitty and Paddington.

My Students
Our little library is a very busy place every day! We have Pre-K thru 6th graders coming in, learning to love books, using technology and reading. Our students love new books and it really stimulates their interest. Having new, high interest books readily available will be very exciting!
We are a 85% high poverty school where all of our students receive free meals.
Our student population is always in tough economic situations and many of our students only eat regular meals when they are at school. We also have English Language Learners from all over the world. Sadly many of our students never visit a public library (right down the street), and the only library they use is here at school. All kids love to explore new books, look at the illustrations and read! But it all costs money, and my small District budget doesn't keep up with the lost (never paid for), damaged and worn-out books. It's a constant problem trying to decide what to buy each year. My book budget is 50% of what it was nine years ago. Book prices and shipping keep going up, and here I am with emptying shelves. Our tiny PTA has no funds for this.
My Project
My students will use these books to learn for reading. Many of the books I've chosen are funny, like the "Bad Kitty" books. I've also chosen some of the charming "Paddington Bear" books as students have seen the movie trailer and want to read the books! Not a bad thing! I also chose some Jan Brett books, with her gorgeous illustrations! My students and I LOVE her books. Every book will be a great to our library collection and used for years.
Please help our little readers have new, high interest books!
The new library books will be a great addition, and will last for many years. All these books will be quickly read, and loved by our students. Please help out students stay excited about reading! Many of our reluctant readers will read these books, over and over. I hear Paddington coming!
