My Students

"Can I use the iPad? Can I use the netbook?" These are some of the most often asked questions in my classroom. My students are very eager to learn about and to use the new technology in our classroom, but without the proper accessories, using these technologies can turn into a classroom disaster.

I teach an eager group of second graders who are always exploring and making new discoveries.

My students come from a low-income, rural area near the coast of South Carolina. They attend a large elementary school that houses pre-kindergarten through fifth grade.

My Project

My students need 20 headphones, five splitters, surge protector, and charging dock to make using our classroom technology easier. My students will use the headphones and splitters to use our classroom iPads and netbooks to listen to stories read aloud and use educational apps. By having the splitters, pairs of students can use each piece of technology at a time. The charging station and surge protector will allow my students to learn to be responsible at the end of each day for charging these important pieces of technology for them to use the next day.

With technology constantly changing, it is also important that we stay on the cutting edge of new ideas.

I am confident that having my students use technology makes them better learners. These pieces of additional technology will make implementing this use more efficient in my classroom.
