Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

A number of our high school students struggle each day in their classes, due to difficulty seeing what is right in front of them. The culprit... bad eyesight.

We have some students that have such bad eyesight that they cannot see the worksheets in front of them or the board at the front of the room, no matter where they are seated in the classroom.

Sunsation Eye Wear came to our school to evaluate the eyes of 31 of our students who were recommended to have their eyes tested by teachers, parents, or themselves. After their eyes were evaluated and they selected the glasses frame of their choice, a pair of glasses was made for each student. The glasses cost $40 each. One of our administrators paid for the glasses with his own money, so that we did not have to ask the families to pay for the glasses. We hope to get funding to reimburse the administrator for the cost of these essential glasses.
