My Students

“The more that you read, the more things you will know. The more that you learn, the more places you'll go.” ― Dr. Seuss, This quote is perfect for my classroom. As we are introducing the concept of books and language, it is important to get these students excited about learning and reading.

I have a classroom of 20 3-5 year old students, some just starting school and some coming back for another year of prekindergarten.

With students coming into prekindergarten at different academic and developmental levels, it is important to have the resources available to meet the needs of every student. My students come from diverse backgrounds and each have different needs that need to be met. They are all at their own stage of development which creates the need for a wide variety of materials.

My Project

Our classroom library books will be used for read alouds to encourage language and vocabulary. I will also have them available to the children in our reading area. It is so important to have good, high quality children's books available to instill a love of reading as they prepare for kindergarten.

These books will allow my students to choose from a variety that will excite and engage each child.

Having a good classroom library will create opportunities for early reading experiences whether it be holding the book the right way or letter recognition. These books will also allow me as a teacher to introduce language and new vocabulary words to my early childhood students.
