This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

How much growth can we show in one year's time of reading independently in our classrooms? We are about to find out if this project can be funded!

We are currently one of the lowest performing middle schools in the state of Texas.

As an ELA specialist, I am challenging all of my teachers to begin to carve out class time to ensure Independent Reading is taking place in our classrooms at least three times a week for all 6th, 7th, and 8th grade learners on our campus.

With your help, our students will begin to see the importance of reading, but they will also experience better connections with other students, a sense of self, and expand their prior knowledge skills beyond their own comprehension. Please support our effort to grow our students as independent and confident readers!
