My Students

I teach second grade in an awesome school district. My students have varied levels of learning. Our classroom has a very inviting atmosphere where all students can learn in their own way! We are a Title I school with the 60 percent of our students receiving a free or reduced-price lunch.

Each student is unique and special in their own way, and I am amazed by their positive attitudes toward learning!

They are very kind to their classmates, loving to their teacher, and respectful to everyone they meet.

Covid has impacted my kids over the past two years academically and emotionally. My students have tried so hard to stay on level since Covid first started. They have not had a regular school year since kindergarten. They are so willing to give it their all, but are below grade level. Emotionally, it has been a struggle. They have missed their friends and being with their teacher. It's hard being told you have to stay at home for 10 days because you have been exposed. They need their friends and teachers. I believe they are strong and are going to come out better humans! Kids are true blessings!

My Project

Covid has really hurt my students' families financially. Therefore, this has impacted my students learning at school. Asking for items like glue, pencils, glue sticks, paper, pencil sharpener, crayola crayons, paint, and paint brushes will help my parents financially, thus relieving the stress of my kids since they will have the supplies they need to learn.

My students' parents had to purchase headphones at the beginning of the year.

Some of my kids' headphones have broken so the sound disturbs my other kids while they are working on their Chrome Books. These Soundnetic SN-CCV 25 Pack Budget Classroom Headphones will help my students focus on their learning.

I am also asking for Saxon Math folders. These folders help tremendously because they teach number placement, geometric solids, abbreviations, months, days of the week, measurement, angles, etc. Since these kids have not had a regular school year since kindergarten, they need these folders to refer to daily to catch up.

I've also included the books Snowmen Play, How to Catch A Snowman, Sneezy the Snowman, The Recess Queen, and Peter Spit a Seed at Sue are needed for storytime. Children need as much exposure to books as possible. Reading books aloud helps with listening and comprehension. During Covid, they didn't have that daily exposure.

Games such as Spelligator, Splat, Brainy 101 Magnetic Cubes for Kids, and Swat A Word are great games to increase their reading skills. Some kids are below level in reading and math due to Covid. These games will help reinforce basic skills they need to learn.
