My Students

I am a first year teacher in a Title 1 school. I love my students and my school community but need your support to make my classroom environment cozy and structured. A rug would help students feel comfortable in our meeting area and give everyone a clear space for learning.

My kindergarten children love to learn and play and have ample time for both.

Many are attending school for the first time and getting used to the structure of an environment outside the home while some have attended pre-k. They are curious and friendly but are having trouble figuring out where personal boundaries are when sitting close together without a rug. Having a rug with clear color boxes will help them enjoy personal space during lessons.

My Project

Students will each have a personal space for morning meeting and whole group lessons. Since this rug is color coded like our table groups, transitions will be clearer and more efficient. ("Red row, get your backpacks... yellow row, get your bags...") In addition, the rug can be a cozy spot for students to stretch out, lay on their tummies, and enjoy a book during independent reading!

Students spend hours and hours in the classroom and it should be comfortable and well structured.

Without a rug, children currently have to sit on a tile floor for lessons! Having this rug will create a warmer, more inviting space for learning.
