My Students

My students are amazing thinkers, problem solvers, and cooperative learners. They dive in to each new adventure whether we are reading a mystery, tackling new math strategies, or beginning a science investigation. They inspire me everyday with their enthusiasm, pride in their accomplishments, and care for one another.

My school is a Project Adventure school that focuses on challenges, cooperation, problem solving, risk taking, and trust.

We come from many different places, speak many different languages, and have many different economic backgrounds. But we honor each individual for who they are and what gifts they bring to our class family.

My Project

It is not easy for anyone to sit still in one spot for very long, let alone an entire day! Yet we ask students to do this every day at school and still give us their complete attention. Yoga balls, balance discs, and fidget bands will allow my students to keep moving throughout the day even when they are working.

Children need to move.

It is good for their physical health as well as their brain functioning. The variety of seating options will also give them the choice to work where they are most comfortable. Choosing a workspace is it's own lesson in problem solving and becoming an independent thinker. When students are given a choice in their workspace, along with the ability to be physically active, their motivation and focus increase dramatically.

I want my students to channel their energy and motivation into new ideas and creative problem solving. But most of all I want our classroom to be a place that is fun and positive so they will want to be there every day.
