My Students

I am very fortunate, to be working at a school, with children from many different and diverse backgrounds. Now that the children have had time to adjust to their new environment, build strong friendships, and learn the rules and routines of the class.

It's a perfect time to delve deeper into our pre-literacy skills and build a stimulating, fun, and challenging writing center for our classroom.

This includes: learning how to build and illustrate community stories, sorting and counting, one-to-one correspondence, upper and lower case letter and number recognition and writing skills, color identification, differentiating shapes, fine motor skills such as developing a strong tripod grip, and hand-eye coordination.

My Project

My students must keep up with the latest advancements in education to spark an interest in reading. Education is changing every single day, and so are the interest of my students. As a teacher, we must teach to the whole child. Teaching literacy to a class of children that are on different levels and skills can be complicated. We must also teach to the core curriculum standards. So implementing materials that provide a platform for children to utilize their fine motor skills, hand-eye coordination, sorting abilities, reading, tracing, and other abilities, is very important. The materials that have been chosen for this project can be incorporated into the classroom in many ways. They can be used during morning meetings, read alouds, choice time, and in small groups.
