Do you remember your time in elementary music? Did you have a favorite memory? Most people mention playing instruments! Now imagine you're one of 50 students in a classroom with a very limited amount of instruments to go around. Your time on those instruments is quite limited.
My students are a diverse, imaginative, energetic and fun-loving group of young people.
Each day with the students at my school is an adventure, to say the least! With class sizes ranging anywhere from 21-55 students in each section, we always find ways to have fun in music.
My Project
I have requested a bass xylophone to add to our classroom set of instruments. Adding a bass xylophone to my classroom will allow for more frequent turns for students and the bass voice will add richness to our overall ensemble sound.
Adding a bass xylophone to our classroom "instrumentarium" will allow students more frequent opportunities to accompany classroom singing games, compose original compositions, improvise their own music, and practice music reading in the "hands-on" fashion that only Orff percussion instruments can provide!
I am in a unique situation at my school to impact each and every one of the approximately 950 students who attend my campus.
It is my hope that each of them leaves my room with a love and appreciation of music that stays with them their whole life long.
