My Students

I teach an Intellectually Disabled class with 15 students at a Title l school. My students range in ages from 4-9 years old and are in TK-2nd grade. The population of my special education classroom has disabilities ranging from Autism to Mental Retardation.

I am looking to keep things simple and provide my students with creative and meaningful learning experiences despite the needs and age diversity in my classroom.

Many of my students have sensory needs that your donation will help provide.

My Project

My students have developmental disabilities as well as autism. Many of my students have sensory needs. Sometimes one or more senses are either over or under reactive to stimulation. Sensory problems can cause students to rock, spin, cover their ears and flap their hands in order to create the sensory input needed.

Your donations will provide the much needed sensory items in the class which may help my students have better attention and awareness during reading and math.

Kinetic Sand, Bean Bag Chairs, Board Games and other items that I am requesting will help my students with their sensory needs by giving them tactile learning experiences.
