Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students yell "yeah!" when it is writing time. During choice time, the most popular center is the Writing Center. Students work on different writing projects; stories, letters, cards, notes, etc.

Our classroom is diverse, full of life, and learning excitement.

My students come from various cultural, socioeconomic, ethnic, and linguistic backgrounds. In our classroom, some students are fluently writing four to five-page books during writing workshop, while others are beginning to make letter-sound connections and rely mostly on drawing pictures to create stories. In our classroom, we are all writers.

My Project

Our students will benefit from having a portable Writing Center which can be utilized to organize various writing materials; types of paper, pencils, markers, crayons, scissors, alphabet stamps, etc. Our students will be able to access the materials necessary to create stories, informational books, letters, poems, etc.

Having all materials accessible and portable will enable us extend our love of writing across different content areas; we would be able to bring our writing center to the science room for example.

During "choice time" we would be able to move the writing center to a table we use during the day. Since we have limited space, a portable writing center will enable us to maximize the use of our classroom.
