Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

The students in my classroom come from a variety of economic and cultural backgrounds. My students are on the autism spectrum and each face their own challenges, however, they each have their own strengths and abilities! My students are 3 and 4 years old and for many, this is their first school experience! They have to cope with separation anxiety, learn the routine of school and the structure of the day. They require visual supports to get them through their school day.

My students are creative, enthusiastic, and strong!

They love to move, listen to stories, sing songs, and love lots of positive attention! We learn during small and large group time. We also have a great deal of individual one on one learning! I focus on each child's individual potential each day. They are all so different and unique!

My Project

A listening center will be a great addition to my classroom! Incorporating this technology into my classroom will help my students with their reading and listening skills.

Reading, listening, and technology ALL-IN-ONE!

My students are special needs students who all have goals of listening/attending and pre-reading skills (identifying letters, turning pages of a book one at a time, being able to listen to a short story). I have listening center books from a previous school, including books about math/counting and science!

We all know students react differently to technology! This will give my students another way to listen to a story, rather than me reading to them all the time. By doing this, they will have their own book, and the story will signal to them when it's time to turn the page.
