My Students

“What a computer is to me is the most remarkable tool that we have ever come up with. It’s the equivalent of a bicycle for our minds.” -Steve Jobs. Exercising the minds of my 21st century fourth graders is a challenging endeavor when technology is scarce.

My students have a true love for learning.

They are high-energy, and they thrive on hands-on experiences. Like most children born into the technology-age, my students really enjoy using technology as a means to learn. They are extremely technologically literate, and can seamlessly navigate their way through most technological devices. As a whole, my school is working towards enhancing our students' English Language Arts performance. We have invested in several forms of technology to help facilitate student-learning experiences. Our students are thrilled by our latest investment in a new and exciting digital reading program. They can't wait to start reading books from their very own, individualized library of digital books! In order to make the most of this new program, we need increased access to technology in the classroom. Hand-held Tablets would help facilitate this experience, and we would appreciate your support!

My Project

These resources will be used on a daily basis in our classroom. The Tablets will rotate so that each student has access to them each week. Students will love using these tools to support their reading comprehension! Our school recently purchased a digital reading program to supplement our ELA curriculum. This program allows students to log-on to a site and access various books at their independent reading levels. We will use this program in class, and with the support of the Tablets.

My students are excited by anything and everything related to technology.

The idea of using technology in class will promote my students' engagement with books and their commitment to reading rigorous texts. The Tablets will reignite their curiosity and promote the type of learning that should take place in a 21st century, technology-driven classroom.
