This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

We are going through such a difficult time right now. I never imagined that when my students and I said good bye in March, this would mean that it would be the last day in our classroom. We left thinking we would be back in a few weeks but now it has become months of remote learning.

My students and I are actively engaging everyday through our long distance learning and live meetings.

I'm amazed at their level of willingness to try different things at all times. It is wonderful to see their level of engagement and how families offer to help with this new learning process.

My Project

Help me give my Literacy students books to read at home during distance learning due to COVID-19. My students are not able to leave home because of quarantine in New York City. Since we've been reading a book written by Andrew Clements during our ReadyGEN unit, I would like for students to have another book by this author. This will reinforce their reading skills and love for reading. I'm thrilled at how engaged my students are at the moment reading Lunch Money by Andrew Clements online. Some students will get a book at a lower level since they are still acquiring English as a second language. These books will be delivered directly to my students' homes.
