My Project

In my classroom, students are curious about all things nature! Currently, we are learning about insects and their habitats. I noticed how my students' eyes lit up when they saw the bumblebee perched on the flower. I thought it would bring their learning to life when they experience and observe how a flower grows. Literature, such as fiction and nonfiction books and laminated visuals also play an important role for these young learners because it begins their emergent literacy journey by exposing them to print. Students can even develop new vocabulary words with these new materials. Additionally, through hands-on learning, those new words can come to life.

Nature is relatable to young learners because it is something recognizable and meaningful to them.

The planting items, books, laminating sheets, and insect items will enhance our learning because they are hands-on. I plan to have the students plant, have scientific discussions, read the books in the library, and show their families what they are learning.
