My Project

Our school has a high population of Title I and ELL students. Approximately 85% of our students qualify for free or reduced-price breakfast and lunch.

As a Title I Reading teacher, I work with Kindergarten through 5th grade students who struggle with reading fluency and comprehension.

Many of my struggling readers do not have books to read at home. The best way for my students to grow as readers is to have them practice reading more. My students have shown a high interest in graphic novels this year. It has been incredibly rewarding to see my students blossom into motivated readers. I would like to be able to provide my students with more graphic novels at their instructional level that they can check out of my class library to read at home. By helping with my project, I will be able to get books in the hands of young readers who are developing a newfound appreciation for reading.
