it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

A chain reaction of support starts with one share.
We are a fun and energetic group of 1st graders in a California public school. Our students come from low-income backgrounds but they are that much more motivated to work hard and learn in school. They are curious about the world, and absorb new information like sponges. They love to learn about new things, explore new places, meet new friends. They almost never leave the boundaries of their community so their experiences with the world outside are very limited. Going on a field trip would be exciting as well as educational for them.
A significant part of our first grade curriculum is related to life on the farm. Our reading program includes many stories about farm animals, our social studies book compares life on a farm versus life in the city, our science program teaches about plants and animals. Together with our students we thought what better place could there be to visit than a farm? We could learn so much about animals, plants and farming!
We found the perfect place for our field trip- a farm that has everything that we are looking for. They specialize on teaching children about life on a working farm. They provide tours and hands on experiences. Our students would get to experience things like tasting a root, touching a wool sweater on the hoof and maybe even milking a cow! A trip to this farm would help them understand the importance of the farm and garden in their own lives too.
Your help will ensure that 100 young children from a poor community will have an unforgettable learning experience. Our kids will get to see something amazing and brand new to them. With your help we will also open up doors to many great follow up activities and investigations.
Thank you for your help!
