My Project

Thank you for viewing my flexible seating project, which will empower my students to *move it* and work around the room as needed for their own best learning situation! My class LOVES group work and being able to get up from tables to work on cushions in our library space, to collaborate on a bean bag, or to just find a quiet corner of the room to focus independently is a huge plus for our classroom learning style. We need tools to help ensure this works best for all students, and that's where you come in!

The first thing I'm requesting are lap desks - these are essential for us to safely use our school Chromebooks anywhere other than our tables.

Our school requires laptops to be flat on a solid surface, which limits flexible seating options when doing online work or testing (both of which we do regularly!). Lap desks would allow students to move around the room and still be safe and compliant with our tech rules.

I am also requesting two wiggle chairs - these are amazing tools for helping wiggly students feel supported and physically engaged while keeping them in a position to write or read in a classroom. I have MANY kiddos that would benefit from this tool and they would be used daily by students for years to come!

Finally, I am hoping to acquire a class set of clipboards to encourage flexible seating options for writing or assignment completion periods of the day. These will help ground students as they respond to literature, allow for movement while completing collaborative and group activities, and encourage working in more diverse places while upholding high expectations. These are a classroom classic, and I can't wait to give the students a chance to use them!
