Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Hurricane Harvey still is headlining conversations with our little scholars. It created a ripple in our great city of Houston. Students and their families are now in the process of rebuilding because they were compromised and lost everything. This transition of normalcy has been very difficult yet as educators we are doing everything we can to render support and help them persevere through this rough time.

After losing everything , scholars need a space and place to come to school and experience a world of opportunities to learn and move.

Scholars are yearning to have hands on exploration /music and movement/so it will facilitate thinking and learning. I am constantly seeking for innovative ways to teach my scholars and connect to the whole child encouraging them to love school and enjoy learning.

Ninety percent of our scholars qualify for free or reduced price lunch, which means that they are living either on or below the poverty level, as well as having English as a second language spoken in the home. Despite scholars living in poverty and having a high population of students with special needs, scholars have the willingness to be a successful everyday in every way.

My Project

The donations for this project will provide motivating and and exciting ways to help little scholars move yet still learn using gross motor development.

With your assistance, physical movement and motor development can become a more rewarding experience by learning academic skills along with with maintaining physical fitness.

Utilizing equipment such as the jump ropes and Sight word steps are just example of combining academics with physical activities. The requested supplies can also be utilized during or class brain break which also lends itself for learning and movement. This will also be a positive influence to prepare scholars for Jump Rope for Heart and also help through build on spelling words through physical movement.

With your help, we will be assisting the PE teacher as well as the classroom teacher by getting up, moving in some way and allowing scholars to be at school not think about anything else but ensuring they reach their greatest potential through academics and physical fitness. Help us reflect and rebuild after HARVEY with all scholars in mind!
