This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

How can we really expect students with special needs at the age of 6 to stay in their seats for a school day? We can't! It is not a reasonable request however we have found alternate options! As a public school teacher in a high needs area within NYC, I am dedicated to keeping my students motivated.

My students are all unique learners with the same end goal, to succeed.

I want my students despite their special accommodations to reach their fullest potential and I believe these materials will help them do so. I am a special education teacher in first grade ICT classroom. Over the past few months I have noticed that the students struggling with fine and gross motor skills, ADHD,dyslexia, and emotional anxiety would greatly benefit from additional resources in the classroom. That is why I am asking for hands on materials like sand, pencil grips, highlighted paper, bean bags, etc to really help my students re-gain their confidence in the classroom. If you believe you can, you will. I believe in my students and I want more then anything for them to be provided with not only love and support but also the tools necessary for them to succeed.

My Project

I believe the resources I requested will be beneficial not only for the special education students in my classroom, but also for the general education students. I want them all to succeed to the best of their ability and these resources will make that happen. The pencil grips, and highlighted paper will be essential for students struggling with hand-writing. The bean bag chairs will be an outlet for the students that need a brain break and want to just comfortably read in our special reading corner of the classroom. The ADHD students, and the students with so much energy will benefit from all of the hands on manipulative's in the cart. The special placers will help the students with dyslexia copy from the board and keep their place.

You will not only be changing lives, you will be promoting confidence and giving my students a chance to succeed. All of my students are capable, but with your support and these resources we will be able to make that happen even faster!
