My Students

My students are rich in diversity: I work with students who were born in other countries and speak other languages, students who struggle with poverty and a lack of opportunities, students with a variety of special needs, students who range in age from 4-11, and a wide range of interests and abilities. The one thing that everyone shares is a love of movement and PE!

What they lack are opportunities.

PE class for them is only once per week. Budget cuts have severely impacted equipment purchases and the activities we are able to offer. While students do have daily recess, it often needs to be held indoors because of our weather. Many of them are unable to afford extracurricular activities and some cannot even play outdoors at home.

My Project

My students only have PE once per week. They often express the desire to have PE more often. They are especially frustrated by our frequent indoor recess (weather in New England...) and are literally begging for more vigorous physical activity! These Skillastics sets will provide a great outlet for structured physical activity for indoor recess. In addition, they can be used in the classroom, where the Character is Cool Skillastics will really support our PBIS initiative. Having 2 sets of the Character is Cool and 2 set of the Half Pint Skillastics will ensure that all of our students at all levels will be able to benefit. Your donations will really make a difference toward our goal of 60 minutes of physical activity per day!
