Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

The students in my class come from a variety of backgrounds and ethnicities. Most students come from immigrant parents that are struggling. I teach a collaborative integrated class consisting of a majority of students with special needs ranging from classifications such as autism and emotionally disturbed. Even with these circumstances, they have a desire to achieve and try their best. The area in which my school is located is a rural area with many low-income housing projects. Most parents are receiving public assistance and are from single-family homes.

My Project

Sometimes the biggest obstacle to learning is the fear of failure. The use of dry erase markers really makes such an impact on student learning. With the ability to erase mistakes, students are more willing to take chances.

The use of various colors makes it more fun for students learning.

This also helps students with retention. I have in the past seen such a difference when students use dry erase for sight words. They feel like they are playing a game, which aids in social-emotional growth.
