My Students

Each student who walks into my classroom brings a unique perspective. I have a tremendous community of diverse learners. Just like in an orchestra, each student in my class shines individually and as part of the group.

My students come from various backgrounds, speak different languages, and enjoy many different games and activities.

Students at our school are not typically advantaged economically. This does not hinder their tremendous thirst for learning! Some of the traits they share include: a love of learning, an infectious smile and curiosity. Our classroom sits at the top level of our school, overlooking the bustling city. While the city keeps up its hectic pace, my students are equally busy, diving into the day's learning with zeal. Deeply committed to knowledge, my students ask questions and explore the topics in our lessons. They love to read books and have discussions, they listen intently to each other and comment respectfully, and they have so many great ideas to share!

My Project

Have you ever been the student who doodles their ideas on the corners of notepaper? Did you ever invent a clever jingle or song to help you remember your multiplication facts? Did you prefer science experiments that took you outside the classroom to learn about photosynthesis? This project is dedicated to helping my students learn that there are many ways to show that you are smart. We'll be reading "You're Smarter Than You Think: A Kid's Guide to Multiple Intelligences." We'll discuss each of the types of intelligence a person can have and show examples of each. My goal, as we read this book together, is that my students will be excited to discover that there are different ways that a person can be smart.

Imagine how empowering it will be for my students to recognize how they learn.

The student who doodles recognizes that they're a visual learner. A kinesthetic learner prefers to learn with a hands-on activity. Students can confidently use strategies in their own learning style to help them succeed academically. As a teacher, what a marvelous benefit it will be to see the various intelligences that my students exhibit and support them in classroom lessons and activities.
