My Students

My students love to read. I love to read. Together, we have a shared love and experience that can only be found in books.

My students are sixth graders in a small middle school in northern California.

One of my goals as a teacher is to ignite a passion for reading. My students have learned to love it! They would read every day all day if we could! The one thing I like to teach them is that they don't "have" to read they get to read! The more students learn to love reading for pleasure, the more likely it is that they will become life long readers.

My Project

The stool I have requested fills a very simple, but necessary void in my room. I have a wonderful bookshelf for my classroom library, but the top shelf is a bit too high for middle school students (and me!). We would love a stool so that we don't have to jump! The new books I have picked out for this project are some that my students have been really pestering me to get. They are parts of series that my students are enjoying and want to be able to finish!

Anytime I can add more books to my classroom library it is a win.

The students and I get so excited for new books because new stories take us on new adventures! The stool is much more practical, but it will allow us to reach all of our books!
