My Students

We are problem solvers! Our kindergarten community is a place where we take pride in knowing that we all come from various backgrounds and all learn in different ways. Our students deserve to use their brilliance around problem solving creatively, as well as traditional math tasks in order to prepare to be the next generation of scientists, mathematicians, and engineers. Problem solving is so much more than word problems and our students are adept at creative solutions and practice.

We're writers, poets, scientists, artists, architects and much more.

My Project

Kindergarten will be more than a little different this year. One thing that remains is that children will need many ways to express themselves and share their thoughts, feelings and opinions. Kindergarten students are young, but they are no different! Writing and sharing our stories allows communities to connect and deepen our empathy for each other, and there is no time greater than the present to work on this ideal in schools. Our young writers will working hard to build the skills they will need for the rest of their school lives, and they need a writing center on the go!

Help me give my students the tools they need to tell their stories in writing, no matter where they are.

We can offer students and families all the things they'll need to have a writing center at home, and a picture book to inspire the retelling of some brave jumps they've made. Students will need notebooks with spaces for the type of writing they're developmentally ready to make, ample lines for letter formation, and large boxes for pictures will give our students the chance to make their writing however they feel most comfortable.

Pens, pencils, and crayons will help bring even more excitement to the writing process as students tell us their own stories. When our young writers have all the tools they need for a writing center at home, they will be able to relax and share their lives with their community in pictures and words. We all have a story to tell and writing offers us the opportunity to both recieve and share the stories of our classroom community, even if we're six feet apart!
