This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Math can be fun, and there are many ways to solve problems. But it's not so much fun when we lack the materials to solve these problems. And, it's especially not fun when students don't understand and I lack the resources to supplement lessons. In middle school, students should have foundational math skills that help them move on with new learning. Many of my students don't. There is a lot of re-teaching and pre-teaching that needs to happen before students can tackle grade-level skills. Having resources such as activity books, whiteboards with graphs, multiplication charts, and whiteboard markers will help me catch them up and reinforce new learning taking place.

My students need math resources and learning tools to help them access grade-level math.

My students have special needs and require resources not readily available at school such as dry-erase coordinate grids, reference posters to help them remember steps and rules, and an analog clock to help them learn to tell time. I need resources such as books on common topics such as positive and negative numbers and decimals and fractions to help me reteach skills they lack that are necessary for new learning. These materials will help students progress in their general education math classes.
