My Students

Imagine a classroom with no books?! We need to fix this!!

I am a new teacher at my school and can't wait to meet my amazing students.

They are driven and extremely hard working. They set goals for themselves and they aren't afraid to dream big! Many of them come from low income areas, however, they see the world as filled with hope and opportunity.

My Project

My students will use these books during independent reading periods in class, at home, at the park, on the bus, etc. They will be writing about these books in their reading notebooks and will be discussing their ideas in peer book clubs. They will recommend books to peers and check these books out, just like a real library! We have no books in our classroom. In order to help my students become independent readers, I need to either plan field trips to the town library or ask students to save up money to buy books. With our own library right in our classroom, I know my students would become better readers because of this amazing access to books!

I am leaving a school filled with books so I was so sad to see that my new school has no book!

Please help me fill my classroom with books to help spark a love of reading among my amazing students.
