My Students

My Pre-K students live in a diverse neighborhood consisting of hard-working people and unfortunately, many bad influences. Their parents often work more than one job to make ends meet. Many parents are English language learners themselves and cannot always help the students with their homework. They are lucky to attend a school that may be poor but has an administration with bold ambitions for them.

This year, we are going to learn good eating habits by growing our own food in the classroom!

My Project

Children in underserved inner-city areas often have little access to fresh fruit and vegatables. This project will let them see how food is grown and give them the opportunity to taste food that they have grown themselves. We are requesting a GrowLab Classroom Gardening Center.

The children will have a chance to prepare their own food and get their famililes excited about eating good nutrition.

Can you imagine how proud 4 year old students will be to invite their parents and grandparents to a celebration with food they have created?

Teaching good health is a lifelong gift. Children who are healthy learn more easily than those who aren't.
