My students need bumpy seats and fidgets. The bumpy seats and fidgets allow the students who need to wiggle their hands or body to focus in the classroom and be engaged.

My Students

Our RSP classroom is full of color, creativity, and energy. We work on engaging projects and tasks at small kidney tables in small groups throughout the day. We have inside jokes and laughs, but they work hard when it is time to learn. I am proud of the camaraderie we have created!

The students in my RSP classroom are in third, fourth, and fifth grade and receive special education services in both language arts and mathematics.

While they enjoy being in their general education classroom, they absolutely love coming to the RSP classroom and working on projects that meet their instructional level and help them feel successful. My students are all creative, love formulating new ideas, and truly have a love for learning. While my students enjoy working at the kidney tables and in small groups, many students enjoy the freedom of moving around and "wiggling" while they work. They love being able to walk around the classroom, stand at their desks, and have the ability to learn in the position and place that is most comfortable for them.

My Project

The bumpy seats will allow those students who need to wiggle and move around to stay in their seat and receive the same sensory input without distracting the other students. The fidgets allow students who enjoy manipulating an object in their hands, to focus on the given lesson and work effectively. Instead of the student tapping a pencil, walking around the classroom, or playing with items in their desk, they are able to play and focus!

The bumpy seats and fidgets allow students of all abilities, especially those who are hyperactive and enjoy moving while they learn, to participate and learn in the classroom setting.

By having these items, fewer distractions will occur in the classroom, and students who have the "wiggles" will be able to focus and participate in the classroom while also receiving the sensory input they crave!
