My Students

Do you remember being in school and the teacher talking and talking? Many students learn better if they have a visual in front of them. Using an easel with a dry erase board and chart paper will help students who learn visually take in more information when we do lessons at the carpet.

My students are in grades 3-5.

My school is a Title One school, and we have a high percentage of students living in poverty. I work with students who struggle with reading and writing. Many of my students have learning disabilities or ADD or ADHD. My struggling learners also struggle to focus in on the information being presented to them.

My Project

We need an easel for our carpet time! We do mini-lessons at the carpet for some of my groups that are too large to sit at a small table together. Sitting together at the carpet facilitates conversation better than in desks around the room. The problem is that I do not have a white board or an easel for chart paper at the carpet. Using and easel, I could record the main points and create anchor charts (posters recording our ideas) to help students see, as well as hear, the important information.

Your donation toward an easel and chart paper will allow my students to retain the key concepts from a lesson.

This will allow us to sit together at the carpet and read and learn. Visual learners will take more away from the lesson than if I just present the information orally.
